I do like Matt Campbell, and there are plenty of other great coaches with roots in Toledo area. Saban, Harbaughs, Meyer,
—all incredible football leaders that our team could take a few lessons from. But i became a BYU fan first and always after visiting the campus on a long childhood road trip out west to see family. (Nobody in the family was LDS at the time.) My uncle was a professor at Utah State, and working closely with a BYU prof, so visiting Provo just worked naturally into the schedule. I was maybe 8 or 9 years old then but knew instantly that I needed to go to the Y for college. The feeling on campus was unlike anything I had ever experienced. Eventually my mom, brother, and I joined the church, the aunt and uncle went on to become semi-professional anti-Mormons, and I did go to school at the Y. That’s how a girl from Toledo becomes a BYU fan. No idea how it works for someone from Iowa.
Go Cougs!
Go Rockets!
Go Maumee Valley CDS ...maybe you’ll have football again someday.
