Brilliant because it gained the Ravens a time out at the 2 minute warning
If any time runs off the clock, the 2 minute warning happens before 1st down and the Ravens can stop the clock only once. By forcing a fair catch, they now get the clock stopped twice. Saved the Ravens about 40 seconds on offense.
