Your 1st line is revisionist. Many of us pictured 2-2 based on preseason odds.
Guys who thought 0-4 was in the cards were much more radical and uninformed. The Odds put 2-2 much more likely than 0-4. 1-3 most likely and 2-2 or 3-1 close behind.
In any case, 3-5 with losses to USU and Boise is somewhat of a disaster and certainly would show zero improvement in coaching and overall team accomplishment.
