For the kids we do trick or treating in the house turn off the lights, put Halloween music on and the kids go to different rooms that the parents each man...and give out treats. Probably do about 3 rotations. It's nothing that special but the kids love it.

My BIL has also done the candy cannon, basically created a pvc cannon using an air compressor and shoots it into the air and the kids go nuts chasing the candy.
