This whole "load management" thing is interesting. I can see a variety of arguments coming down on either side. Teams want to win championships - which means they need players healthy and fresh at the end of the season. But people pay to see the players play - and the NBA has marketed individual players more than teams. So having the big name star sit out because he's taking a break seems a little disrespectful of someone who is paying full price for a ticket to see the star. And only 1 team is going to win - should everyone miss seeing stars for the rest of the season so that 1 team can win?
I mean - I get that the purpose is to win a championship. But people don't pay their entertainment dollar JUST for the championship. They pay to watch their team play and compete.
Should teams have to pick which games their stars will sit out at the beginning of the season so that ticket buyers know what they're paying for? Should players get "paid time off" like most people in a job? So many ways to look at this...
