were on their way to Target to buy $3000 in gift cards. She is heavily medicated and her mind isn't working correctly. Her husband has dementia. He was driving. We recently moved them into an assisted living center but he still has his car keys.

They said they got a call that their Amazon Prime account had been duplicated and $3,000 was put into the account. They now needed to go to Target and buy $3000 in gift cards to send back. She had enough cognition to stop by our house on the way to Target to ask if that seemed right. They guy was still on the phone. I got on and chewed him out and told him we were forwarding the info to the police. Of course I can't really do anything and the guy on the phone knows it. I asked my MIL what info she had given him. She said her address and American Express card number. Oh boy. Sometimes people suck.

We cancelled the card and take them back home. When I get there her computer is on with a google map screen showing where the closest Target is. She had somehow downloaded a screen sharing app and this guy was sending her screen shots of everything from the $3000 charge from Amazon to the local Target. Pretty lame scam but it was working. I removed all of the garbage from the computer that I could find but who knows if I found it all.

So mad right now at some pathetic piece of garbage preying on old people with dementia.

Going to have to get power of attorney but my FIL doesn't want to give it. He has dementia but still sounds ok about 50% of the time.

This stinks. Sorry just had to vent. Any suggestions would be welcomed.
