Tuiaki ran the sack-lake-city d-line at Yewtah in 2013 & 14. He got 39 sacks in 2013 and 55 sacks in 2014. He's been
running our D for years now and the drop 8 is a new scheme.
Perhaps CB just needs to realize they don't have all of the data needed to make an informed decision as to why Tuiaki is choosing to drop 8 so often this year.
There is no evidence available that dropping 8 is a bad option for this team. It's possible that a rush 4 or 5 defense would have performed worse.
