CB interactions are somewhat bizarre. I find myself agreeing completely with
people in one category that try my patience in other categories. I wouldn't be surprised if I cause the same reactions in others. I barely remember anything about the old movie about the other "CB" from decades ago, "Citizen's Band." In the 1970s, my parents were CBers of that variety. A lot of the old style CB world was similar to what we have here. A lot of random people, mostly using fake names and chatting about a variety of subjects.

For those who are too young and may not even know what Citizens' Band is, it was an old form of communicating over airwaves that wasn't as expensive as ham radio. CB didn't cover anywhere near the same geographic distances either. But, within range, people could fire up the microphone on their special CB radio and send out messages for others to hear. People had licenses and the fake names were called "handles." Even kids were supposed to have them. Mine was "Lightning."

People had car radio versions with small antennas that attached to the roof of your car. And people had large roof antennas for home radios. There was coaxial cable that connected everything in the home set up. In the movie, someone was upset with what another person was saying and they went and cut the coaxial cable to take their rival off the air until a repair could be made. I was pretty young and it has been a long time, but it seems like the person who cut the cable at the other guy's house had a child that went missing and a search party was organized. It turned out the guy that had annoyed him and caused him to cut the cable was one of the hardest working searchers for his child.

For some odd reason, that plot line popped into my head today. Probably because I am seeing people on the FO list of my FO that I think we probably rub each other the wrong way a little, but we have a friend in common. It reminded me to try to avoid doing any "cable cutting" equivalent behavior because the reality of it is the people that bug us the most would probably be people we'd get along with just fine in real life. Some might even be good friends.
