Beautiful trees. They’re native in Utah above 6000 feet. You’ll only find them for sale at private tree lots. Somebody mentioned the place in Provo off Columbia Lane. That’s a good place for alpine firs (also called sub-alpine firs).
I wouldn’t buy one with a lopped off spire. I’m not sure why people do that. When you’re ready to bring it in the house, cut off the bottom inch of the trunk and then put the tree immediately in a water filled stand. Check the stand regularly and refill when necessary. Trees soak up a lot of water during the first few days they’re inside.
