It's confirmed that the show will tie in directly to the movie
We don't know in what way yet.
If I were a betting man I would wager it has to do with cloning and that we're dealing with a clone of Palpatine, that Rey is a clone of Obi-Wan or Anakin, and that Baby Yoda is a clone of not baby Yoda.
