Young women in the church are/were taught that marrying an RM is the pinnacle of a successful marriage. I have seen guys get dumped/engagements broken off because the girl decided she should only marry an rm or a “true” rm. It is what is, and, yes, to you or me and probably most people, it doesn’t matter, but I wouldn’t pretend there aren’t people out there that think it’s a big deal. And my take on Condie’s comments initially was that it was a jab at some of players on BYU’s team that didn’t serve 24 months. His reverse spin after saying something so stupid doesn’t justify his comments toward BYU players. So he obviously cares, plus someone posted a link to a Ute conversation where they seem to care as well.

Most people aren’t racist, that doesn’t mean racism doesn’t exist.
