Boise St, Utah, and SMC--all OT losses for BYU this year. All games either w/o Yoeli, or his first game back when he misses the critical part of the game down the stretch. All games, that arguably, BYU should have won.
If BYU had been able to win those 3 games, their record would be 15-2, with their only 2 losses to top-10 teams SDSU and Kansas. And It could be argued that BYU should have probably beaten SDSU--also without Yoeli--too.
It is so frustrating sometimes to be a BYU fan. This team, in Pope's 1st year at BYU, could be a legitimate top-20 team. But due to the NCAA's suspension of Yoeli, which most observers and commentators say was unfair, or at least too strong, and injuries to Baxter, Wade, and now Yoeli, this team is 12-5, when they could have been, maybe should have been 15-2 or maybe even 16-1.
Things never seem to break BYU's way. I still love this team. I love their effort and fight. But it's hard to not think about what might have been with a healthy Yoeli and Baxter for the entire season.
