Because Kalani is Tongan/Polynesian? For all of the fear that was spread for BYU not being able to fire Kalani for fear that it would lose all Polynesian recruits in the future, Polynesians sure haven’t put their money where their mouth is so to speak by sending recruits our way in support of Kalani. In fact, several of the highest profile recruits that have sold out more recently for bigger name schools late in the process were Polynesian. I have to admit I thought Kalani’s heritage would have been more of a benefit in this regard.
