The reason I ask is because it's more likely that the bottleneck is the VPN than your router

I wouldn’t hope for a big improvement by switching the router, but I had an Asus AC-56 and it worked very well

Yeah, that’s why we’ve got it. We use Netflix and Hulu (and YouTube TV, but they still catch us that one sometimes)
