At best you can argue that the wording made it unclear over what period of time
the salary would cover, because he didn’t say weekly/monthly/annual salary, he just said “$50,000 salary.”
So I’m concluding that he was talking about a WEEKLY salary, you are making as much of an assumption as anyone else. The only difference is that your assumption makes no sense.
