You can rationally argue that it's not literally the most overrated movie, but I dont see how you can rationally argue that it's not overrated. It's currently listed on IMDB (which admittedly tends to be brigaded in favor of movies that appeal to teenage and YA males) as the 4th-best movie ever made — better than everything from The Third Man and Night of the Hunter to 2001 and Saving Private Ryan. The first critic to give its sequel a negative review received death threats for doing so. People lost their minds over it. Eventually the assessment will settle appropriately, but that hasn't happened yet.
