I came across some articles detailing Utah's revenue and expenses and it got me thinking about the state of BYU athletics. Yes, I know BYU is a private school and does not disclose their finances, but does anyone have any inklings as to what BYU brings in each year? Utah brought in $99.5 million in revenue and had $96.0 million in expenses (nearly double since 2014) this past year.

Rumors had BYU's old ESPN football TV deal worth $1- $2 million per game. With the way TV deals have climbed over the years, I would expect (if those numbers are correct) to double to $2-$4 million per game. At $3 million per game, that would equate to $15 million per football season (with one of the six games being televised on BYUtv instead of ESPN/ABC). Utah receives $32 million in media rights from the Pac-12. And that is nothing compared to the Big Ten and SEC conferences which have been distributing $50M+ and $45M to each of their respective schools every year.
It would be interesting to see BYU's revenues and expenses, but at the end of the day I guess i'm trying to say that I'd just like to see BYU join a power conference soon and receive all the benefits that those schools get.
Lastly, Go Cougs! Beat Gonzaga!!
