Educated guesses and pass them off as advanced knowledge or mystical understanding. They were looked upon as profits as people who had an infallible knowledge. Kings trusted them and they went to war on their word. They were the most trusted and honored advisers.

Today we don’t call them soothsayers or Sorcerer, we called them modeling experts. They tell us when the earth is going to warm and why they tell us how many people are going to die and where. When they’re wrong they don’t say that they’re all full of it. They blame the data because they could never be wrong.
