If you really want a tablet, the iPad is the class of the market by far. Apple is slowly loosening their grip on the ecosystem, so you may be able to use Google's apps as replacements for the default apps soon. Its inexpensive for the base iPad, so dipping your toes in the water can come fairly cheaply and if you decide you don't like it the secondary market is strong.
