I still remember it being pretty weird because after the game resumed, there was maybe two thirds of the stadium that had left, yet it seemed almost as loud as I many other games I had attended to that point. I'm still not sure if it was just the die-hards were all rowdy from the weather delay or if the absence of people made the sound waves bounce off the stands better.
Maybe Mark Rober could answer that one for us. Incidentally, I'm pretty sure he was my physics TA when I took the class. Ever since I started watching his youtube videos he always seemed vaguely familiar. But I don't think his wikipedia page says which specific years he attended BYU.
