I think that’s overly dramatic. MLB is definitely completely mishandling this current situation
They could’ve gotten an edge by being the first to come back and instead are in an ugly debate.
It’s also clearly not a good thing for MLB if the NBA chooses to take over the summer.
But MLB does incredible in local rights deals and ratings. They haven’t been great with national ratings for a long time. Those local ratings will continue to be stellar in the foreseeable future. They just aren’t 100% competing in the same spots. NBA has games on TNT and ESPN. MLB gets its money for YES Network and other local affiliates. They’ll be fine.
Just come to an agreement soon, please.
