Probably most will transition to the championship subdivision where they only
Need to fund up to 65 football scholarships. And there is no requirement on other numbers of sports. Then you only need to worry about football, men’s basketball and then title 9 for women’s sports (about 75 scholarships that could be volleyball soccer basketball Track and Gymnastics. A total of 9 sports.

The other option is drop football and fund baseball men’s track etc wcc style.

These Decisions will probably be made within the next two years. Keep in mind that Boise state had to furlough their coaches. They are feeling the heat. I can’t see how they can go on

This is the same for lower level P5’s too. The NCAA is going to let schools maintain status this year if they drop below the minimum number of teams sponsored or average of 15,000 buts in seats. Next year however that will likely not be that case and I think the haves will look at this as an opportunity to shed the have nots.

If they don’t qualify P5’s will at least have to drop to G5 of not championship subdivision. Usc Oregon Texas Lsu BYU Nebraska etc won’t care
