I've had this conversation countless times with kids who want to play a skill position. You know, have the ball in their hands. i tell them all the first of the year the following.
"Guess which position pays the most money in the NFL, after the QB? DL! More particularly the D-end." If your kid is big, strong and fast he could be a beast at D-end and have a lot of fun messing up an offense.
"Guess which is the most-recruited position in college? The O-line!" there's nothing like the O-line "brotherhood."
The bottom line is if kids are thinking "future" in football they should relish the line of scrimmage.
