Billy Corgan's soft vocals in most of the music I think is what makes a difference, but I really feel that their brand stands apart. In fact, I feel there really weren't very many bands that modeled their music after Smashing Pumpkins. Sort of like how Sublime stands alone.

I know I'm late to the party by like 20 years, but Corgan really was one of the best artists of the 90's.
