Usually the cyclist getting killed is someone on a bike on a busy road in the
dark without a light.
Yeah there are exceptions, but I ride with bright front and rear lights, always pick roads that have a wide shoulder, and ride when there is less traffic. I also stay to the right as far as I can. You are more likely to get killed in a car accident driving to and from work. I feel perfectly safe on the road.
