Might get flamed by the pessimists and the anti-KS/TH crowd, but I honestly
think we have a complete team this year and would have had a chance at a fairly special season.

I am fully aware of how inconsistent we’ve been under Kalani and his staff(s), with some incredibly head-scratching moments (i.e. Grimes calling a backfield pass on 3rd&2 in the Hawai’i Bowl, which kept the clock running and gave UH time to score, to name only one...). However, in my estimation, there is not a single position group that has code-red deficiencies. 90% of our starters will be upper-classmen with double digit starts each. Coaching aside, that counts for a lot.

If the coaches could get their crap together I think BYU fans would have been in for a fun season with a great schedule. That, to me, is the saddest part of this. We’ve struggled through some mediocre years and Kalani and our players deserved this season to show that it’s all coming together. It felt like a culminating year. I think we had a good chance to beat Utah since they lose ~70% of their starters.

Now we will most likely never know. I hate Covid. Please don’t take basketball from us!
