would be awesome.
So the SEC championship game isn't until Dec 19 and CFP selection isn't until the 21st. CUSA and AAC championship games are Dec 5 and Sun Belt Dec 12. SEC, ACC, B12 all end conference play Dec 5. There are more bowl spots than teams so why not let some teams play in multiple bowls as part of a tournament for the final spot in the CFP?
One thing I really dislike is a team that doesn't make a conference championship to get in the CFP and that is very likely this year. In normal years I'd like to pair the highest ranked conference champion vs the highest ranked team not in a conference championship game for the final CFP spot. This year that sort of thing could work out really well.
ESPN should propose top teams play in for the last spot in the CFP on Dec 12 and 19. Especially since most teams won't have played 12 games by that point. Pick any undefeated teams not in P3 and 1-2 loss teams from P3 leagues. Or just play among league champs from G3 leagues if teams from other leagues won't participate - that would still improve SOS and give a better chance for CFP inclusion.
In any event Holmoe should be looking at scheduling games Dec 12 and Dec 19 if possible in addition to any other open dates in November.
