Story about Reba. 25 years ago she was already a pretty big deal and my nephew as a huge fan. He was 14
and contracted Leukemia. Make-A-Wish contacted my sister's family and asked if he had a wish- and he wanted to go see Reba in concert. But, his disease was very fast moving and he started to decline very quickly- meaning he could not travel or go to this concert.

Make-A Wish still contacted Reba and asked if she would do something. She said she would call him and talk. So she did just that and called my nephew and they spoke for over an hour about anything and everything. She sang some songs to him over the phone acapella and sent him some swag In the mail. It was like he was the only person on the planet for her that day and she never sounded rushed or worried about getting off the phone to do something more important. It was a kind and sweet gesture to a dying young man. He passed a couple of weeks later.

I have been a huge Reba fan ever since. She came off as the real deal that day for our family. I think of that every time I hear a Reba song on the radio.
