I actually agree. You have to set expectations. Been married a long time. When we played Utah in the bowl game my wife
scheduled family pics for the same time. I objected immediately. She insisted photographer could not change the time... and that I could just DVR and be live by the 3rd Q. I argued that that scenario would ruin the fun of texting with my brothers, being live, etc etc.

Long story short... that was the game when Utah got out to the huge lead and we rallied back. And even though I had my phone OFF... the photographer’s freaking husband texted her during the shoot, and she blurted out that BYU was already getting killed 1 Q in.

I was furious. Ruined the entire experience.

After that I made it clear to my wife... If it’s BYU or Jazz (in the playoffs)... I’m watching live. End of story. She felt bad and agreed it wasn’t cool to make me miss it / and that it really sucked someone ruined it for me.

Leading up to the shoot... it was one of our larger (stupid maybe) arguments.

Now, she just knows... I’m watching the game live. It’s my one thing. Anything else... any other sporting event, she knows I’m happy to DVR and watch it later. Not BYU.

Set the standard now, man. And live happily ever after!
