Corn Pop Intervention Needed
Texas State Simple Scouting Report:
Based on nothing more than looking at their scores and stats:

First, the 30 pts might be tough to cover. This is a team that played SMU and BC to a single score. BC looks to be an average ACC team this year, so it’s not like they’re terrible, and currently SMU is Top 25. And they basically tied UTSA, falling in double OT, and UTSA gave us fits.

Then again, they seem to be trending down after their last two games. Troy whipped them and we whipped Troy. The transitive property can often mean absolutely nothing, but getting whipped by Troy does show that Texas State isn’t playing as well as they were to start the season.

Second, their starting QB Vitt has only played in two games. Stat wise, there is a significant drop off from Vitt to McBride. Both QBs have taken turns staying home due to Covid. That said, neither one of them is lighting up the stat sheet. Both have a fair amount of rushing attempts, and yet neither of them have the rushing yardage to justify so many attempts. Their offense is asking them to do things they can’t do.

BYU is nursing a few injuries, so while I expect an easy win, it might take longer to get there than we would want. IE, I’d love to see Baylor play most of the second half, but it will probably take until the end of the third and possibly a little longer before these guys are fully put away.

But every game is different, so who knows but that we put 49 on the board before halftime. I’d be prepared for a slower building solid win, though.
