It’s hard not to take amazing QBs for granted with BYU. We are a little spoiled. But game after game the kid shows time and again that he has the “it” factor that makes a good QB an elite QB. We haven’t seen someone with his abilities since Ty Detmer, though Ty excelled from day one. And Zach has far more NFL potential than our dear Ty had.

It’s really too bad that we “di’int” get to play the original schedule, as that could and should have led to a far more impressive season. Given the circumstances though, I’m not complaining. Glad we have a season at all.

It’ll be interesting to see where he falls among the all-time great BYU QBs. My guess is that he’ll go pro after this season and will not have the ‘opportunity’ to stack up the stats of our previous great QBs. But we haven’t seen a QB with his overall skill and “it” factor for a long time, and my guess is that he’ll have the chance to be a great NFL QB. I’m convinced that he’ll be counted among the greatest BYU QBs when you look back on his combined college and NFL career, possibly right up there with McMahon, Young, and that other Wilson.

It’s a great time to be a BYU fan. In stark contrast to the last few years. Or decades.
