Granted, it’s no dumber than many other silly things we do during holidays (hide eggs in the yard, drag a dead tree into the house, etc.)

But this one just really bugs me and I’m not sure why.

Maybe it’s the fact that we have more than enough weird holiday traditions and I don’t want to force yet another one. Isn’t Santa enough?

Maybe it’s the annoying, ugly looking elf itself.

Maybe I’m annoyed that it’s yet ANOTHER distraction from the significance of Christmas.

Maybe I’m just tired of pretending like our kids aren’t smart enough to know it’s fake.

Am I alone on this??
