What is the bowl breakdown for money? And other money outside of the NY6 payouts? My real question is outside of the of the P5's "losing out" on the approx $4m payout BYU would receive, what other monies would BYU be taking that impacts the CFP committee, P5's?
I read for the 2019 NY6s, the 4 CFP teams get $6m each and the other remaining 8 NY6 tms get $4m. So that's $44m total payouts. 1 G5 auto bid, so $8m goes to non P5s. That's less than 20% of the total payouts. I'm assuming ND does not count as they're huge $ makers for P5 etc
I'm asking this because it doesn't really seem all that logical that P5s & the CFP committee are THAT overly concerned if BYU were to "take" away such a small percentage.
The initial CFP rankings could still easily move us up to NY6 eligibility. For instance, the Committee knew there'd only be 1 B12 NY6 & they probably sensed only 1 P12 to NY6 given how unimpressive they looked and that BYU was ranked ahead of all P12s. They could easily adjust us past IU since they're only 2 spots ahead. And even Georgia is close enough we could jump if needed.
What will be much more revealing will be if they move us up a single spot today (that's all thats fair/needed @ this point). Or at the least, don't drop us.
My big thing is let's see how things go until at least the Tues after SDSU. I know there's P5 bias against us(& all G5's really). There's probably some religious bias against us too, who knows. But the current fact is BYU has never been anywhere near the discussion of CFP rankings, NY6 invite, in this modern CFP era. I'm not saying our initial ranking was fair, just lets see what happens over the next 3 Tuesdays.
