In addition to screen performance there is the question of asthetics and functionality - if the reviews criticize the remote, run away fast! I have a small, cheap Vizio for a bedroom and the remote is horrible.

If absolute screen performance matters, get OLED. If not then you can probably save a lot of money not paying up for what are marginal technologies.
