A lot of people lost more than 10% of their original investments during the financial crash. I remember a lot of talk back when the story broke about the greediness of many of Madoff's investors. They were lured in by the promise of significantly above market returns, and they weren't too concerned about the details behind how it all worked. Obviously, Bernie should bear 100% of the blame for this mess, but I don't feel too sorry for some of the speculative investors whose greed blinded their good sense. I also don't feel sorry for the loss of the fake gains/paper wealth.
