She was trying to nail down her #1, 2 & 3 players and she knew that her most talented player was young (Frosh or Soph) and a bit of a headcase. So the coach matched her up against the #2 and told the #2 to just grunt non stop during the match to see what would happen. The #1 player did not handle it well, got really ticked off, started yelling at the #2, and ended up chucking her racket at her. Needless to say, the coach didn't think she was ready to be the team's #1 if she couldn't handle some excess grunting.
