As a senior manager, I hired a number of interns and was very impressed/pleased with the quality of work they did. I always assumed their specific experience was largely irrelevant and their can-do attitude was essential.
What we needed and what I wanted was a bright, young person that was curious, positive and wanted to contribute to the important work we did.
The primary work we did was highly technical... and we were never going to assign an intern to do serious work in the heart of our effort. But there was a wide swath of important-but not boring- secondary work that was ideal for an energetic intern. We found good stuff that matched their interests and skill set; we didn't hire any intern to do a predetermined task that required a specific skill.
If they have decided to interview you, you already have a good chance to be hired.
You got this!
