a convergence of historical figures that never took place and feed them dialogue from the 21st century (or if it doesn’t, at least to edit and frame that dialogue through a 21st century lens). It isn’t really even historical fiction that tries to fill in gaps. It seems to create a new history.

That perception is why I haven’t watched. How far off am I?
