I worked at EFY for years and fielded calls like this FOR YEARS. I'm not
surprised at all about this.

For example, we used to play a Justin Bieber song that said: "when I was 13, I had my first love." I was fielding dozens of calls a week telling me it was inappropriate that he thought he was in love at 13, the church teaches 16. Dozens of calls a week, we didn't glorify it, it was just part of our huge playlist at dances and one line from the song.

Do you know how hard it is to find appropriate music? That song had 0 swears and 0 sexual innuendoes, but that one line was too much for people.

Calls like that were all too common. Regular complaints that our dances encouraged a "rave atmosphere" (a bunch of nerdy white people doing line dances and no pushing at the beat drop), that teenage boys were asking teenage girls for their phone numbers, that our session director joked about his first kiss story "because he was only 15!"

And have you ever been at the front of the student section and been chewed out because "chanting air-ball isn't in line with the teachings of the church," because I was multiple times a season.

Annoying whiners.
