Baseball was discontinued as an Olympic sport about a decade ago. I assume
It was added back for Tokyo because Japan has a strong baseball program. It's not scheduled to be part of the Olympics in 2024. I assume six teams are enough for a one-off baseball tournament that won't be part of the Olympic games going forward and which hasn't been part of the games for a long time.
