There is a huge incentive for them to stay together and expand
The GOR and the Exit Money will only get paid to them if they stay together and the Big 12 remains. This is why you are seeing so many articles about them being taken. It is a PR campaign to get it to happen so OU/UT don't owe anything.
If I am the Big 12 (now 8) I expand this weekend and announce it all on Monday.
