Two of my son's were "involved" in an accident last year that involved a motorcyclist that died. I put it in
quotations because they were sitting still waiting to come out of the parking lot when an older couple turning into the parking lot didn't see the motorcycle and turned in front of him.

Not sure who was ever found at fault. The motorcycle was speeding and swerved out of one lane, where they were behind another car that was coming to a stop, because of traffic, and into the lane where the old couple was turning. And, unfortunately, the motorcyclist wasn't wearing a helmet.

The motorcycle slammed into the old couple and they swerved into my son's who were sitting still. Neither of my son's were injured thank goodness but our car was totaled out.

The son not driving jumped out of the car and ran over to the cyclist lying on the ground. He said his legs got really weak and was trying to scream for someone to call 911 but hardly anything would come out of his mouth.

A minute or two later a nurse from an urgent care across the street came over and tried to help. Care Flight was called but then sent them back because they could tell he wasn't going to make it. They pronounced him dead at the hospital.

My son's seem overall ok but we drive past that area all the time and it almost always effects them. But I'm pretty sure neither will ever want to get a motorcycle.

I've always been nervous about motorcycles but that really cemented it for me.
