Zach would be in the minority even among top picks with how they’re structuring the language. From the athletic article:
“ The Jets are not in the minority in including offset language, either. The only teams in the NFL who give contracts without offset language are the Jaguars and Rams. Joe Burrow, the No. 1 pick in last year’s draft who is represented by the same agent (Brian Ayrault) as Wilson, signed a contract with offset language.
While the Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence, the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, does not have offset language in his contract, fellow first-round quarterbacks Justin Fields (Bears) and Mac Jones (Patriots) do have partial or full offsets.”
So Zach would be one of what… 2 or 3 quarterbacks with no offset language? Not saying it’s wrong for him to ask for that, but the standoff makes sense to me.
