Needed them to use either synthetic or synth-blend because the regular oil my regular place used would “blow up your engine.” I have a Camry SXE addition….nothing fancy and I don’t recall being told it can only use synthetic….nor do I think I believe him that my engine would be blown. I’m sure he was trying to upsell me because I’m a woman, even though a woman was managing the place. I could see them working on my car through the window and the guy looked at me slightly then said something to his coworkers and they were all laughing.

So how accurate am I in my assumption? Is regular oil prone to blowing out some types of engines? It doesn’t sound right to me but I’m not sure. If so I’m never going back ti Grease Monkey. If it’s true, maybe I’ll switch to going there. I don’t know.
