Claim: The PAC12 tried to kill BYU by refusing to schedule them. Fact: In Independence, BYU has played more P5 opponents from the PAC12 than any other conference. We've actually played nearly as many against the PAC 12 as we have against all other P5s combined.
Claim: The MWC refused to schedule BYU Fact: BYU has played the PAC12 more than any other P5 conference, but the most common conference we've played against? The Mountain West Conference
Claim: ESPN gave BYU better exposure than any team in the West. Fact: Looking at the last 4 seasons (where I have data) 70.6% of BYU games have been nationally televised. Which is great! But it's worse than every PAC12 team for which I've gathered data (Utah, Washington, Stanford, UCLA, Oregon, USC). Those teams have had anywhere between 71.1% (Utah and Stanford) to 88.9% (USC) of their games on national TV. To say nothing of the oftentimes weird times/days/channels that BYU has played on.Even Boise State has had 69.4% of their games on national television. BYU may be ahead of other PAC12 teams I haven't looked at, but they're (at best) the 7th most exposed in the West (assuming the West doesn't include Texas, or literally ANY Big 12 team, all of whom play on national TV more often)
Claim: BYU still kills Utah in ratings Fact: Over the last 4 years, BYU has 38.45M total viewers (or 1.07M per nationally televised game). In that same time period, Utah has 49.56M total viewers (or 1.55 per nationally televised game). You can debate the reasons, but, factually, Utah draws substantially higher ratings than BYU.
