BYU lost one of its most dedicated alumni/fans yesterday! 😔❤️🙏🏻
I haven’t posted here in many years and I wasn’t sure what category this should go in. So please direct me if anything here is inappropriate.

I feel the need to share that the BYU family lost another of it’s finest yesterday to COVID. His name is Chris Rasmussen and he was an equipment manager for the BYU football team in the 80s/90s. He had the good fortune to start his first year with the team in 1984, before serving his mission. After serving a mission, he would have the opportunity to continue serving the team, mostly during the Ty Detmer era. He served mostly as an equipment manger for Roger French. Those that know, will understand how this was not a simple assignment. It took great patience and dedication to keep coach French satisfied. That said, Coach French was also a great guy once you earned his trust. I had the privilege of being both his friend in high school and as his colleague (also as an equipment manager) on the team during the Detmer era. Chris’ eldest son Jake also recently graduated from BYU, and incidentally was also an equipment manager with the team.

Chris was quite simply an amazing human being and was just good to the core. Anyone that knew him loved him, and anyone he knew, he loved as well. He was a dedicated member of his various local ward committees, served as an early morning seminary teacher to the youth, and held many other church callings. Chris just loved to serve. I saw somebody post on another social media platform that he would give the (BYU) shirt off of his back to anyone that needed it. And it is absolutely true. He repped the Y every day, rarely seen out of his beloved Cougar blue shirt or hat.

Unfortunately, he leaves behind a wife, and 4 children, including 3 still at home ages 19, 16 and 11. His death is obviously unexpected and medical and funeral expenses are mounting. I am posting the GoFundMe link below for anyone that knows him and/or feels inclined to donate.

Thanks for reading this far down! 😉

He will be greatly missed!
