Wow...I'm so impressed with Zach
I was just reading an article Mitch Harper wrote back at the end of June comparing the offseason work that Hall, Romney and Conover have been putting in with private QB gurus to try and sharpen their games to win the QB1 job. It shed a little light and helped me gain a new appreciation for what Zach did during his off-season heading into the 2020 season.

In the article Mitch says that Hall works with Dustin Smith of QB Elite while he's in Utah and then every couple of weeks flies to California to work with John Beck and 3DQB. Conover works with Ty Detmer and Max Hall in AZ (Harper didn't hint at how often) and Romney works with Rudy Carpenter whenever he has the chance to get to AZ.

This isn't meant to be a knock on any of the 3's efforts to improve and earn the QB1 job because they all 3 are obviously putting in the work. I think all 3 are very dedicated athletes, however, reading what they're doing has really given me a deeper impression on the degree of commitment, drive and determination that Wilson showed last year in his all too famous 10 hr each way drives every weekend to work with Beck and others there in CA.

He wasn't going every couple of weeks (and flying) nor was he going whenever he had the chance to get over there. And he drove. One year while I was at BYU I was engaged to a gal that lived up in Snohomish Co, WA. My classes were M-Th and so I would take off after my last class on Thurs and drive all night straight through to get to Snohomish Friday morning so that I could spend the weekend with her and her family. Long drives are grueling when you do it over and over. She was my fiance yet I didn't make the trip EVERY weekend but I did it a couple times a month. His commitment really stands out even compared with the impressive amount of extra work Hall, Conover and Romney are putting in.

Zach had the willingness to do that little "extra" that turns ordinary into extraordinary by going every weekend. It allowed him opportunities to be present at times when Beck was working with NFL greats like Drew Brees. It allowed Zach to benefit from a little bit of mentoring from a future HOF'er. Hall has gone less frequently and to date hasn't had that opportunity to rub shoulders with NFL legends.

No doubt all 3 guys are putting in the work and it will be fun to see who emerges as the QB1 and QB2 in the competition. I wish them all the best. Also, for the first time in years (maybe since Dan Marino retired) I will be watching NFL games on a regular basis and eagerly following the hated Jets this season rooting for Zach to tear it up. The proof is in the pudding...by their fruits ye shall know them...I've no doubt that Zach will do well in the NFL
