Our family tragedy for the day
I realized there are far more tragic things in the world, but I thought I'd share.

As anyone who follow knows, I am stuck in China. I work here and we have a huge project going on that I am literally involved down to the finest details every day (literally selecting light fixtures yesterday). Add to that Covid restrictions and I just can't go back to the US, and return and be locked in quarantine for weeks.

To make it more fun, I had my knee surgeries in April, got sepsis in one joint, and finally after four months my knees are working again, but my legs are weak.

My wife has now been gone a month. And during that, I've moved from a central location to a more "rural" location closer to work. Moving in China is like moving anywhere else, it stinks. But not being able to get up the stairs myself, let alone lift something, that's a big stinker.

The combination of all, has been a little stressful.

So, meanwhile in the US, my oldest (an Aspie) has been nursing his cat along. My wife went to the vet with him last week and the vet suggested putting the animal down. But my son decided he would regret it if he didn't give it the best try. It's his money, so he opted for surgery to remove the cats teeth. Today, he was on his way to the vet for the surgery and his car died on the side of the road. My other son came to the rescue, picked him up, and delivered them to the vet. During the surgery, the cat died.

My Aspie is just crushed, and when I read about it in the family chat thread this morning, I just came unglued and started weeping too. I mean, it's a cat. But it's weird how you care for your kids on such a level you feel their pain for the little things.

Well, at least no one has CV, we all have jobs, and there is the miracle of FaceTime.
