It's much more likely there will be a sensitivity to holier than thou, delusional, intolerant, bigoted, condescending, judgmental and critical, arrogant, full of ourselves, and all of those related negative things.
Especially if we come in at the top and start winning and dominating right away.
We will need to be especially prepared for people to be eager to find evidence to build that narrative.
Like...remember the MWC? LOL. Yeah think that. When Utah and TCU leaves the conf it's okay but when BYU does it everyone starts falling all over themselves to paint us as the villain and vowing to never schedule us again.
People are already very sensitive to groups who have the moral social ideals that we do, add to that the unavoidable perception of vast wealth and missionary disadvantages....then sprinkle in some racism and homophobia with a side of misogyny....and yeah...not good.
As long as we suck we won't have to worry to much, but I don't anticipate that happening.
I'm serious. If we come in already at the top and then start dominating, TCU will be sure to let everyone know just how bad we were to get along with in the MWC....
Fortunately I'm already working on a few projects to begin opening and fusing relationships with our new conference mates proactively before this can happen. And then I see that others are actively choosing to do things like what happened this morning with the max hall t-shirt thing and I feel more confident in my sincere believe that all of these perceptions of our fanbase are literally just represented by a small small small minority of fans while most of us are fantastic and good people and great fans to associate with.
We'll be fine.
Go Cougs.
