I'm sure I will get a lot of flames for this, and that's okay.
I like Jaren Hall. A lot. I think he has the makings of a great QB. There are things that Jaren does very well. So, what I'm going to say is probably going to get under people's skin, and become uber-defensive for him.
Jaren played 3 Pac-12 teams. We can argue about how good those teams are, and how it compares to Baylor playing FSU. The competition isn't the same. I get it.
Jaren is a tremendous athlete, but I don't think as a QB he is as far along as Baylor. I put this in terms of game management and decisions (all my opinion of course):
Mobility - Jaren wins
Pre-Snap Reads - Baylor wins
Progressions - Baylor wins
In Play adjustments - Baylor wins
Out of System Playmaking - Jaren wins
Pass Accuracy - Baylor wins
IMO, Baylor is a bit ahead of Jaren in playing the QB position. Every game I have seen of him, including Boise State prior, there is never a time that I felt Baylor was out of control. He plays a very calm sort of football. His accuracy was incredible last night. It is funny to see people looking for reason to complain about his "overthrow" when he had what....80% percentage? That's garbage to be so nit-picky.
I think Jaren will come along, and he has led us to 3 wins over Pac-12 teams. No doubt about it. He will be a great QB. But, I actually don't think he is as far along as a QB as Baylor is.
At the end of it all, it is good to have such great players at the QB position. Jaren is great. And having a player of the caliber of Baylor behind him will continue to push him to continually improve.
4-0, and let's see where this thing goes.
